Words are powerful. They can uplift us as easily as knock us down, even strip us of our dignity. In the past I used to focus more on comments and situations that not only triggered but highlighted the negative view I had of myself. In such a state, where I viewed my reality through scratched and darkened lenses, I could never fully embrace praise or see the endless possibilities within my reach. Even worse, it was hard to accept compliments at face value; in fact I would brush them off like crumbs, content to remain in the box I’d shaped for myself.

I can spend pages trying to explain and justify this, but there’s a lot written on this subject already.

The truth of the matter is that our core beliefs do indeed generate our emotions.

With this in mind, I want to share some quotes that help shift my perspective and remove the filters from those opportunities and encounters waiting for me to notice them.

Here They Are:

If you see God within every man and woman, then you can never do harm to any man or woman. If you see God in yourself, then you attain perfection.

The Bhagavad Gita

I have decided to stick to love… Hate is too great a burden to bear.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Real painters do not paint things as they are… They paint them as they themselves feel them to be

Van Gogh

Writing is magic for those willing to follow their imagination to a region where anything is possible

William Kotzwinkle

To love is to understand and feel that the other person is different

Swami Prajnanpad

To slight a single human being is to slight those divine powers and thus harm not only that being but with him the whole world.

Mahatma Gandhi

I want to get to the stage where nobody can tell how a picture of mine was done. What’s the point of that? Simply that I want nothing but emotions to be given off.

I’d love you to share the words that uplift and set you free.
